FALL SWIMMING SESSIONS BEGIN

SAN MARCOS/Texas Ð The YMCA will begin its second year of fall swimming lessons for children, young people, and adults on August 25.

ChildrenÕs classes will be held on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Registration will take place at the YMCA office located at 400 Flores Blvd. from July 15 to August 22. Registration cost is $25 per adult for YMCA members, $30 per child, or $35 per adult for non-members.

Director of the YMCA in San Marcos Sara Garza says the fall classes are a great way to keep children and adults in shape after summer.

ÒOur summer swim classes are so popular that we decided to keep the momentum going,Ó Garza said. ÒWe are lucky in Texas because our warm weather lasts late into the year, so swimming is almost a year-round activity.Ó

One class is held for each of the five different age groups: tiny tots (ages one to three); kindergarten (ages four to six); elementary (ages six to nine); youth (ages 10 to 13); and teens (ages 14 to 17). Every class meets twice each week until November 30 and will follow this schedule:

á      Tiny tots Ð Mondays and Wednesdays from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.

á      Kindergarten Ð Mondays and Wednesdays from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.

á      Elementary Ð Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

á      Youth Ð Mondays and Fridays from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

á      Teens Ð Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

In addition, there will be two classes for adults 18 and older. One will meet Monday and Tuesday from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. and the other will meet Saturday from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

No cash refunds for registration fees will be given. Those who register for classes, but find it necessary to cancel should contact Bertha Bucher at (512) 774-4567 so that a credit memo may be issued for the amount of the registration fee.
